Cleaning and Care of Cutting Boards

HAND WASH ONLY!!! It is very important to clean a cutting board after each use, they must be hand-washed only. Wipe the board down with warm, soapy water and towel dry. Stand the board on its edge until completly dry, then store flat. Do not let water or juices of any kind set on the board for extended periods of time. If the board stains or develops an odor, then pour kosher salt on the stain and add a small amout of water, rub the salt and water mixture into the board with a damp cloth until the stain disappears, then wipe down with warm soapy water and dry.

Wooden board should last for a very long time, especially if you care for them properly. Tips to help...

  • Do not cut on only one spot constantly, use the entire surface.
  • Don't store in outdoor kitchens, or expose to high humidity.
  • Oil with mineral oil or other cutting board wax/oil each month.
  • If needed, you can sand with fine grit sandpaper following the grain of the wood, then re-oil.
